FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Clouds' Children free?

Yes! You can create stories for free. Premium features like custom narration and extended story packs will be available soon.

What ages is it designed for?

Clouds' Children is designed for children ages 3 to 10, with content adapted to three age groups: 3-6, 7-9, and 10+.

Is the AI content safe for children?

Absolutely. Every story goes through multiple AI safety filters before delivery. We never show ads, never track children's behaviour across the web, and all content is age-appropriate. Parents retain full editorial control.

How does personalization work?

You upload a photo of your child and choose their character traits. Our AI creates stories where your child is the hero, with AI-generated illustrations that reflect their likeness and the world setting you chose.

What languages are supported?

Stories are currently available in English and French, with German, Spanish, and Italian coming soon.

Can I use it in my classroom?

Yes! Educators can create stories aligned with curriculum goals. Contact us for classroom access and group features.

How is my child's data protected?

We are GDPR-compliant. Children's photos are processed securely and never shared with third parties. Parents can request full data deletion at any time from the account settings.

Will there ever be ads inside Clouds' Children?

No — never. Our business model is based on optional premium features and donations, not advertising. Children's attention is not for sale.

Does the AI generate content without moderation?

No. Every AI-generated story passes through a multi-layer content filter that checks for age-appropriateness, potential harms, and factual accuracy before being shown to any child. Parents can also flag content directly.

What data does Clouds' Children collect from my child?

We collect only what is necessary: a display name, age group, and optional photo. We do not collect location data, browsing history, or any behavioural data. The full data list is in our Privacy Policy.

Is the photo my child uploads stored permanently?

Photos are stored only as long as needed to generate illustrations. You can delete them at any time from your account, and they are never used for AI training or shared externally.

How much does the family plan cost?

We are currently in free beta — everything is included at no cost. When we exit beta, the core experience will remain free. Optional power features will be available as affordable in-app purchases, never as a paywall on core functionality.

Is there a free trial before I commit to a paid plan?

You don't need a trial — the full beta is free right now. When paid plans launch, we'll communicate clearly with plenty of notice and a generous transition period.

Do you offer discounts for schools or NGOs?

Yes. We are committed to keeping educational access affordable. Contact us at partnerships@cloudyapp.io for classroom and institutional pricing.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There are no lock-in contracts. When paid plans exist, you can cancel before the next billing cycle and your account reverts to the free tier — your data is never deleted automatically.

Where are servers located?

Our infrastructure runs on EU-based servers (Hetzner, Germany). AI processing calls may route through providers with EU data processing agreements in place. We do not use US-only cloud infrastructure for any child data.

Is the AI sandboxed from real-world internet access?

Yes. The AI models used to generate stories operate in a constrained environment with no access to external URLs, user accounts, or live internet data. All training knowledge has a cutoff date.

What AI models power the stories?

We use a combination of large language models (via OpenRouter) and image generation models (via fal.ai and ComfyUI). The specific models used can change over time as we improve quality and safety.

Is Clouds' Children open source?

Parts of the platform are open source. The content pipeline and story engine are proprietary. We are transparent about our stack and publish our safety approach publicly.

What happens if the AI produces inappropriate content?

It is extremely rare due to our multi-layer filters, but if it happens: parents can flag content instantly, the story is removed from their account within minutes, and our team reviews it to improve the filters.

Can I block certain topics or themes in stories?

Yes. From the parent dashboard you can restrict entire content categories — for example, prevent violence themes, avoid certain emotions, or keep stories to a specific learning zone.

Can I see every story my child has read?

Yes. The parent dashboard shows a complete history of stories your child has generated or read, including the date, theme, and learning seed used.

Can I set screen time limits?

Screen time controls are on our roadmap. For now, you can manually disable your child's account access from the parent dashboard when you want to pause usage.

Can my child use the app without my supervision?

The app is designed to be used independently by children aged 6+, with parental review available at any time. Children aged 3-5 are recommended to use it with a parent initially.

Can multiple children share one account?

Yes. You can create separate child profiles under one parent account, each with their own avatar, story history, and personalized settings.

How do I create an account?

Visit cloudyapp.io and click Sign up. You create a parent account first, then add child profiles. No credit card required.

Can I change my child's age group later?

Yes. Age group can be updated at any time from the child profile settings. Content difficulty and vocabulary will adjust to the new setting immediately.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account Settings and select Delete Account. All associated data — profiles, stories, and photos — will be permanently erased within 30 days per our GDPR obligations.

Can I export my child's stories?

Yes. From any story you can download a PDF version. We are building a bulk export feature so you can keep the whole library.
